We want you to love your gear. This policy explains how refunds and exchanges work at Badminton House — written to be fair to you while protecting the quality of products we can offer the next customer. Canadian consumer protection laws still apply where they give you rights beyond this policy (for example, for defective or misrepresented goods).

Start a return. Email info@badmintonhouse.ca with your order number, the item(s) you want to return, and whether you prefer a refund or an exchange. We will reply with the return address and any next steps.


Summary

  • Change of mind (eligible gear): Full refund to your original payment method within 14 calendar days of delivery, if the item meets the condition rules below. Exchanges for size or model may be offered up to 30 calendar days when stock allows and the item is still in like-new, resalable condition.
  • Defective, damaged in shipping, or wrong item: We will make it right — repair, replacement, or refund — at our cost where the issue is ours or the product's. Keep your packaging and photos of any shipping damage.
  • Manufacturer warranty: Many rackets and shoes carry a manufacturer warranty for defects after use. We help you with the process and honour our obligations under Canadian law for faulty goods.
  • Final-sale categories: Custom stringing, opened consumables, and items that cannot be resold for hygiene or safety reasons — see below.

Canadian context. Many retailers offer voluntary return windows; provincial laws do not create a general "change of mind" right for every purchase, but they do protect you against unfair practices and defective products. We publish this policy so you know what to expect before you buy — consistent with guidance from consumer offices across Canada. Eligible returns & condition

Badminton gear loses resale value quickly once it has been used on court: grips absorb sweat, shoe soles pick up abrasion, shuttle feathers compress, and racket paint chips from clashes. Specialty sporting goods retailers worldwide use condition standards similar to ours — we apply them in a straightforward way so honest "didn't fit my game" returns stay easy, while clearly used or damaged gear is not passed on as new.

For a refund or exchange (other than warranty or our error), items must be:

  • Returned with proof of purchase (order number or receipt).
  • In original, resalable condition — packaging intact where reasonable, no odours, no alterations.
  • Within the 14-day refund window (or 30-day exchange window where offered).

By product type

Category Refund / exchange Condition notes
Rackets Eligible within windows if resalable. Indoor trial with factory strings is OK if the frame and paint are pristine (no clash marks, chips, or restringing). Original grip plastic may be removed if an overgrip was added gently. If the racket has clearly been played hard or restrung elsewhere, we may decline or offer store credit after review.
Shoes Eligible within windows if resalable. Indoor try-on only on a clean court or floor — soles must show no meaningful wear, creasing from play, or outdoor debris. Original box and tags where supplied.
Shuttlecocks Tubes unopened only for change of mind. Opened tubes cannot be resold as new. Factory defects: contact us — we will replace or refund.
String reels & accessories Eligible if packaging unopened. Cut string or opened reels are final sale.
Apparel & bags Eligible within windows if unworn. Tags attached, no laundered smell or stains. Underlayers and socks are final sale once opened for hygiene reasons.
Custom / pro stringing Final sale once completed. If we make a mistake (wrong string, tension, or damage during service), we will re-do the job or replace the service at no charge.

If you are unsure whether your item still qualifies, email us a few photos before shipping — we would rather resolve questions upfront than have a package arrive that we cannot accept.


How refunds work

  • Approval: Wait for our email with the return address. Unauthorized returns may be delayed or refused.
  • Shipping: For change-of-mind returns, return shipping is your responsibility unless we sent the wrong item or the product was defective — in those cases we cover reasonable return postage or provide a prepaid label when available.
  • Packaging: Use a rigid box for rackets; do not tape directly to the racket frame. Poor packaging that causes damage may affect your refund.
  • Timeline: After we receive and inspect the return, refunds are issued to the original payment method within approximately 5–10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer.
  • Original shipping: Our standard outbound shipping charges are not refunded on change-of-mind returns unless the entire order was cancelled before dispatch or we otherwise confirm an exception.

Non-returnable & partial refunds

  • Items marked final sale at checkout, clearance, or promotional "as-is" sales.
  • Products that cannot be resold due to hygiene, safety, or authenticity concerns once used or opened.
  • If an item comes back outside the published condition rules, we may decline the return or offer partial refund / store credit instead of a full refund — we will explain the reason.

Warranty & defects

Genuine rackets and shoes often include a manufacturer warranty against manufacturing faults. Coverage, duration, and claims process vary by brand. Email us with photos and your serial numbers where applicable — we will guide you through a warranty claim or handle a remedy directly when appropriate.

This policy does not limit any remedy you may have under provincial consumer protection law for defective or misrepresented goods.
